Introduced to the market in late 2022, the Ruger Security-380 is a compact pistol chambered in .380 ACP designed for concealment or self defense.
The Security-380 is designed for the concealed carry market, targeting those who may have trouble racking the slide, or those who prefer a .380 for self defense. The frame is constructed of polymer, making it light and durable. The pistol has a width of 1.02 inches, a length of 6.52 inches, and a height of 4.35 inches, making it compact yet not overly small.
One of the standout features is its high capacity for a .380 pistol. It comes with two magazines, a 15-round extended magazine and a 10-round compact magazine. This provides users with flexibility in terms of concealment and firepower.
The Security-380 incorporates Ruger's Lite Rack system, which includes slide serrations, pronounced cocking ears, and a lightened recoil spring. This system makes the slide significantly easier to rack, benefiting users with reduced hand strength or arthritis.
One common complaint with smaller, micro sized .380 pistols involves the felt recoil. Despite its compact size, the Security-380 has a very manageable recoil.
As the Security 380 has proven to be a great seller for Ruger, there is no shortage of holsters for this Ruger handgun. Given it's smaller size and capacity, this pistol is geared towards concealed carry.

We do recieve some questions about pocket holster options for this pistol. Since the Security-380 is larger than some of Ruger's more compact models, like the LCP II and LCP Max, it doesn't seem to be a good choice for pocket carry. It likely could be carried in a pocket, but the pocket would need to be on the larger side.
Since the Security-380 is equipped with an accessory rail, is is a candidate for a small weapon light. The most common pistol lights we see on this pistol are the Streamlight TLR-7 Sub or the O-Light Valkyrie Mini.
