    • Taurus G2C

    The Taurus G2c pistol was introduced in 2013 and is an upgraded version of the original Taurus PT-111 Millennium Pro model. The “G2C” designation is an acronym for G2 Compact.

    Like the original Millennium Pro series of handguns, the G2c is a polymer frame, striker-fired pistol designed and marketed as a budget-friendly or entry-level pistol. This pistol series targets the self-defense, concealed carry, and personal protection markets.

    The G2 Compact is available in 9mm or .40 caliber. When the pistol was first introduced, it was only available in a matte black finish. Today, Taurus offers this pistol model in a few different frame color/slide color configurations.

    From a capacity standpoint, the 9mm version comes equipped with a 12-round magazine for a total capacity of 13 (12+1 in the chamber), while the .40 caliber models come with a 10-round magazine for a total capacity of 11 (10 + 1 in the chamber).

    The G2C has been one of Taurus’ most successful semi-automatic pistols to date. Even though Taurus has introduced the G3c series and a G4 series, the G2 Compact pistols are still a top seller.

    Although Taurus has a history of quality control issues and is best known as a manufacturer of budget-oriented handguns, their quality seems to have improved considerably over the last ten years.

    The G2 Compact has some interesting features that help it stand out in a crowded budget-friendly pistol market:

    Manual Safety

    All the G2 Compact models feature a manual safety switch located on the left side of the frame. This is interesting as manual safeties are not all that common on striker-fired pistols.

    Double Strike Capability

    The G2c pistols are also equipped with a somewhat unique feature called the “Taurus Double Strike” capability. If the shooter pulls the trigger, but the round doesn’t detonate, the shooter can pull the trigger again, so the internal striker hits the primer again. In most cases, the second strike on the primer will cause the round to fire. And this second-strike feature does not require any slide manipulation to work.

    Since the G2 Compact is really geared towards concealed carry, it’s no surprise that our top-selling holsters for that pistol are IWB holsters. From a concealed carry holster perspective, we find that IWB holsters seem to offer the best concealment. We carry several high-quality leather IWB holster options for the G2C, including models with single or dual attachment points. We also offer models with a body shield for even more comfort.

    Belt Holsters

    Since the Taurus G2 Compact is a fairly compact handgun, it also carries well on the belt. We offer several OWB holster options for the compact G2, including some high-riding styles for concealment.

    FAQS

    Here are some commonly asked questions that we typically see associated with holsters for the Taurus G2C:

    Are the Taurus G2C and G3C holster compatible?

    Yes and no. Technically speaking, the G2C and G3C have slightly different dimensions, so we’ve encountered situations where a G3C would not fit a holster made for a G2C. The ability to fit all seems to depend on the molding quality used for the holster.

    For example, the Don Hume holsters made for the G2C will fit a G3C, but the MTR Custom holsters will not.

    Can you pocket carry a Taurus G2C?

    The answer will depend on the type of pants you wear and the size and depth of the front pockets. A G2C has an overall length of 6.30 inches and a width of 1.20 inches. A pistol that size most likely won’t fit into the front pockets of jeans but might work in cargo pants or possibly with khakis with large pockets.

    However, for the most part, we would say that the G2C won’t work well for pocket carry.

    Will a G2 Compact in .40 S&W fit in a holster made for the 9mm G2C?

    The G2 Compact chambered in 9mm and .40 caliber are precisely the exact dimensions, so a G2 Compact holster in 9mm will also fit the .40 caliber model with no problems.
