Taurus 327 Defender TORO 3"

Introduced in 2024, the 327 Defender TORO is a variant revolver model in the 327 series. Where the original 327 model has a 2” barrel, the Defender TORO features a longer 3” barrel, and the Taurus optic-ready platform. This platform is called T.O.R.O, which stands for Taurus Optic Ready Option.

Like the standard 327, the 327 Defender is chambered in .327 Federal caliber, which is also compatible to fire a .32 H&R Magnum or a .38 S&W (not to be confused with a .38 Special).

In addition to having a longer barrel and being optic-ready, there’s another aspect of the 327 Defender that is different from the standard Taurus 327. The standard 327 operates as a double-action and single-action revolver, but the Defender TORO model is a double-action only (DAO only) design. The external hammer on the Defender model is bobbed, and it cannot be cocked in single-action mode.

Holster Options for the Taurus 327 Defender TORO Revolver

Chances are, you’ve already figured out that finding a gun holster to fit the Defender TORO model with an optic mounted is a challenge. So, let’s talk holster options for this specific Taurus revolver.

Most of the staff here at Gunner’s Alley believe that the 327 Defender TORO is too large for pocket carry, especially with an optic mounted. You can probably make pocket carry work on the standard 327 with a 2” barrel, but not the Defender model.

We would also say the same for ankle carry, as this model seems too large for carry in an ankle holster.

In our opinion, the Defender TORO in 327 is best suited for on the belt carry of some type. This means that an IWB or OWB holster is likely the best option for concealment.

Our top-selling IWB holsters are the MTR Custom Adversary and the MTR Slimline Tuckable holsters. For belt holster options, our top sellers are the MTR Slimline Deluxe Pancake and the MTR Belt Scabbard holster.

Any of the leather gun holster models displayed below are available in a version to fit the Taurus 327 Defender TORO with or without a red dot optic mounted.
