If you carry a Taurus 650, you need a holster that’s made to fit its compact frame yet comfortable enough for all-day carry. Let’s take a look at the leather holster options we offer for this compact Taurus revolver.
First, a little bit about the 650:
Taurus first introduced a version of the 650 model in 2001 as part of their “Carry It Anywhere” series. The “Carry It Anywhere” was shorted to “CIA,” so the original 650 was called the 650 CIA model. The 650 CIA was a hammerless five-shot model that was only offered with a 2” barrel. This model was manufactured from 2001 to 2017.
In January of 2025, Taurus re-introduced the 650 series, dropping the previous CIA designation. The current 650 series of revolvers are hammerless, so they are double-action only. This series is available in two sizes: 2” barrel and 3” barrel. Each size is offered with either a matte black finish or a stainless-steel finish. These revolvers are only available in a .357 Magnum chambering.
The 2” versions are marketed and geared towards concealed carry, so our most popular holster models have been inside the waistband (IWB) and front pocket holsters. Our top-selling IWB holsters for this series are the MTR Adversary clip-on IWB and the MTR Tuckable Adversary holster. Our top-selling pocket holster for this 2” series is the MTR Custom Front Pocket holster.
That being said, the 2” models can certainly be worn in a belt holster as well. Our top-selling belt holster models for it are the MTR Deluxe Slimline Pancake and the MTR Custom Dual Carry (which can be worn IWB or OWB).
Any of the holster models mentioned above are available below. It’s worth noting that these leather holsters are made to order and are molded specifically for the Taurus 650 with a 2” barrel.
We understand that almost all the holster example images below show a holster made to fit various semi-automatic pistols, but those images are simply examples of that specific holster style. Should you decide to place an order, the holster you receive will be made to fit your Taurus 650 2”.
Here are some commonly asked questions regarding a holster for the 650 Taurus .357 revolver:
Although the S&W J frames and the Taurus 650 appear to be of similar size and caliber (in some cases), they differ in dimensions. Within the S&W line of J frames, most models are or were manufactured with a half-lug under the barrel. All the modern-day compact Taurus revolvers (including the 650) are manufactured with a full lug under the barrel. This difference in lug length is just one example of why a 650 will not fit into a form-fitted holster designed for a J-frame S&W.
We do offer holsters for the 3” model, and they are available here: Holsters for the Taurus 650 3 Inch Barrel.
