    • Sig Sauer P238

    Introduced by Sig in 2009, the P238 was created for concealment and to compete directly with other ultra-compact .380 pistols like the Ruger LCP and the Kahr P380. Unlike most other .380 models of this size, the P238 is a single action only pistol built on the same Browning operational design as the Colt Mustang series of .380 pistols.     Unlike many other compact .380 models that operate on a polymer frame, the P238 uses an aluminum frame with a stainless steel slide. As a result, the 238 weighs nearly 1 pound unloaded, which is a bit more than comparable polymer-framed guns. Sig opted for an aluminum frame as they were concerned about recoil and shootability with a .380 pistol weighing less than 14 ounces unloaded.

    Dimensions on the P238 include a length of only 5.5 inches, with a height of 3.96 inches, and an official unloaded weight of 15.02 ounces, making it optimal for concealment. In addition, the P238 features a standard magazine that will support 6+1, and Sig also offers an extended magazine that ups the capacity to 7+1.

    Thanks to its growing popularity, Sig now offers the P238 in many different models (at the time of this writing). Each model offers different frame colors, grips and grip colors, features (integrated laser), and finishes.

    The Sig P238 is an excellent little gun for both the casual and serious shooter. With its stylish design and powerful performance, this one looks like a keeper for Sig.

    The small size of the Sig P238 pistol makes it an ideal option for concealed carry or CCW. Here are a few of the more popular premium leather holsters that we offer for the P238, and all these holster models are available in right hand or left hand configuration:

    Sig P238 Pocket Holster

    While the P238 handgun is a little on the larger size for pocket carry, we do have several customers who prefer to carry it in a pocket holster. Front pocket holster styles are the more popular, although we also have some who prefer a rear pocket or back pocket holster as well.     Sig P238 IWB Holster

    For a concealed carry holster, the inside the waistband holsters (which are commonly called IWB holsters) are the most popular holster style. With IWB holsters, the bulk of the holstered pistol rides down inside the pants, making it easier to conceal.

    Inside the waistband holsters are versatile enough to be worn at several different locations on the waist. The most popular IWB positions are:

    • Strongside - The holster is worn on the same side as the shooting hand.
    • Appendix carry – In this position, the holster is worn in the front area, either just left or just right of the belly button.
    • Just behind the hip – In this position, the holster is worn just behind the hip, but not quite in the small of the back.
    • Small of the back – In this IWB position, the holster is worn at or near the small of the back.

    Sig P238 Ankle Holster

    Much like the name implies, an ankle holster is worn on the ankle and covered up by the pants leg. Ankle rigs can be worn on either ankle and conceal reasonably well.

    Ankle holsters are a deeper concealment holster style and can be slightly slower to access and draw the pistol than a belt holster or IWB holster.

    P238 OWB Holster

    OWB is a common acronym for outside the waistband holster, which is a fancy name for a belt holster. This style of gun holsters attaches to the belt and rides on the waist outside of the waist.

    Depending on several factors like climate, clothing, body type, etc., this holster style can be a little bit more challenging to conceal versus an IWB holster but is very popular for general carry and range use.

    Sig P238 Paddle Holster

    A paddle holster is a holster style that attaches to the belt or pants using a paddle that is positioned inside the waistband. The paddle portion rides inside the waistband, but the holster rides outside the waistband.

    This style is popular because it's easier to put on and take off compared to a traditional belt holster.

    Our top-selling paddle holster for a Sig P238 is the MTR Custom Paddle holster, which is available below. This holster is available in an open-top model or as a retention model with a retention strap.

    Do you carry any Sig P238 leather holster options?

    At this time, we only offer leather holsters for the Sig P238. We do not currently have any Kydex holster options for the 238.

    Do you have or do you make a holster to fit a P238 with the Sig factory laser?

    We carry a holster brand that offers holsters for the Sig P238 with the Sig factory laser mounted. It's important to note that Sig has more than one version of their factory laser option for the Sig P238. The first generation of that laser was called the Sig Factory Laser. The 2nd generation of that laser was called the Sig LIMA-38 laser. We offer holsters for a 238 equipped with either version of the Sig factory laser, and those holsters can be seen here: Sig P238 with Sig Factory Laser Holsters.

    Any holster listed below is available in a Sig P238 holster version, except the P238 model with the integrated laser (Sig P238 Tactical Laser). The laser model requires a holster specifically designed to accommodate both the pistol and laser.
